How this calculator works
Calculating exact age means counting complete years, months, and days between two dates — not just subtracting years, which can be off by one if the birthday has not yet occurred this year. This calculator handles that counting automatically and also shows total days, weeks, and time until the next birthday.

Common questions
Months have different lengths (28 to 31 days) and years vary slightly due to leap years, so calculating age by counting whole calendar years, months, and remaining days gives a different — and more conventional — result than dividing total days by a fixed average.
A person born on February 29 completes a full year on February 28 (or March 1, depending on convention) in non-leap years, since that exact calendar date does not exist. This calculator counts the elapsed calendar time regardless of which specific date the birthday falls on.
This is useful for figuring out age at a specific past or future event — such as age at graduation, age at a wedding date, or eligibility age on a specific cutoff date — rather than only current age.
